God is the Almighty Creator. Music at Conover FUMC enables us to express our love and adoration to God in a creative way that honors Him. We have church members of all ages who share their talents to the glory of God. From traditional hymns led by the Chancel Choir, contemporary worship by our Praise Team, and joyful noises made by our Children’s Choir, to special medleys by our handbell choir, we have many avenues which welcome your gifts and talents. Are you a vocalist, can you play a musical instrument, or do you simply have a desire to glorify God through music? We welcome you to honor God with us.

Our aim is to utilize effective mediums of technology to enhance our worship experience and to reach and be an effective witness outside our church walls. Tech volunteers successfully operate and manage the Audio/Visual equipment to ensure a visually and audibly pleasing worship experience, and maintain our church website and social media platforms.

Christ is in the center of everything we do….we live and breathe the Word of God. “God is with us 24/7 – Deut. 31:6”, which happens to be our motto in 2019. Our Youth Ministry has a tri-focused approach which blends devotions, mission projects, and social activities. We offer our youth many opportunities to serve our church family, community and even the world through our various ministry teams and projects, including Youth Praise Team, Youth Drama Team, Youth Dance Team, 30 Hour Famine, Souper Bowl of Caring, Box City, Rake and Run, retreats such as Spiritus and Winter Xtreme, the Week of Hope Mission Trip in Charleston and many more.

God’s Word instructs us to train up a child in the knowledge of truth so that when they are older, they will never depart from it (Proverbs 22:6). At Conover FUMC, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is presented in an age-appropriate way which we pray will ignite a spark in little hearts to desire to know God more. We are intentional about ensuring a safe and nurturing environment , firmly founded in love, which cares for the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of our children. For more information about Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, the Hoops for Christ Basketball/Cheerleading Ministry, or any of our other offerings please inquire with our Associate Pastor below.

Our seniors have a strong desire to serve the Lord and others. Whether it’s passing time with a shut-in, sorting donations at Eastern Catawba County Cooperative Christian Ministries, baking homemade bread to bring a smile to the face of a recent church guest or knitting a prayer shawl for someone crippled with grief or disease, we want to be the hands and feet of Christ. We also enjoy outings and fellowship, food, and fun. Some time ago, the seniors at Conover FUMC adopted the name “Goodtimers”, because there’s no short of “good time” with this group of saints! For more information about their service projects and social outings, contact the church office.

The Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20) instructs us to “Go”, therefore, we obey. We have a desire to serve those who need to experience the love of Christ, the broken and down-trodden, the sick, both physically and spiritually and those of great need. Our first priority is our community, the City of Conover and Catawba County, but we span the globe by partnering with regional, national and international missions organizations through both our gifts and service. Every Christian is called to serve outside our church walls- come join us.

Sunday School Ministries / Bible Study
2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” At Conover FUMC, the Bible is God’s inspired Word, absolute truth and the center of all of our teaching and instruction. Sunday School and Small Group Bible Study is offered weekly for all ages in the hour between our Contemporary & Traditional Worship Services, starting at 10:00 a.m. For a list of classes you can visit, or to learn about any additional Bible Studies hosted throughout the week, contact our Assistant Pastor.

A primary purpose of our worship ministry is to spur on the congregation to sincere, lively and involved worship of God Almighty. This involves the whole church family, from childhood to adult. Besides music, there are other avenues to get involved, including acolytes, ushers, greeters, and volunteers involved in planning and preparation. Involving your child in worship through acolyte training is an excellent way to teach children about the Lord’s holy character, the symbols used in worship, and about disciplined, faithful service in His name. Ushers and greeters prepare our hearts by creating a welcoming, inviting and orderly atmosphere of excitement as we gather together. Behind-the-scenes volunteers are those who pray, prepare, and position our facility for meaningful worship of God each week.

Our Preschool was established in 1966 by a former pastor’s wife, Margaret Burson, and has a long and rich history of nurturing our children in Christian education and love. We offer week day, part time classes with curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for children, ages 9 months through 5 years. The primary goal of our program is to educate the whole child by introducing concepts and skills, socialization, manners and respect for themselves as well as others. Through creative play (indoors/outdoors), art projects, story time, prayer time, science, music, dance and one-on-one time, each child is allowed to progress at their own pace and develop their own individual talents while learning in a loving Christian environment.
Classes are held September through May, Monday – Friday 9:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.

United Methodist Women
UMW is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the ministries of the church, locally and globally. We meet as a whole, and also in small “circle” groups that enable members to pray, share and serve together. Every woman in the church is automatically a member of UMW. We would like to welcome you to our sisterhood in Jesus Christ.

United Methodist Men
The UMM’s objective is to promote fellowship among the men of the church through gatherings and various service projects, including fund raising events, sponsorship of church clean-up days in the spring and fall, an annual men’s retreat to the beach, and support of Christmas gifts for the children of the church, and fruit bags for shut-ins. We seek to logistically support the other ministries of the church as they have need. All men of the church are welcome.

The nurture ministries of the church involve the formation of the whole person as an obedient follower of Jesus Christ by meeting their physical and spiritual needs. Physical needs often involve support during hardship in a person’s life, counseling with professional church staff, or help in connecting with other resources. Spiritual needs involve assurance of salvation, help in the spiritual formation of children, growing in the grace and love of God, determining God’s calling on one’s life, and developing Christian disciplines such as prayer, Bible study, and good works. We grow inwardly in devotion to God so that we may serve outwardly. For information on any of these areas, please contact the church office.
